taupo attractions

Taupo is home to some of the North Island’s most impressive landscapes and sceneries. It is the perfect location for outdoor adventures and celebrating the year your team has encountered. From jet boat rides to relaxing in geothermal pools, it is a wonderland to be explored.

Here at Team Trips we have a Taupo team package that everyone will love, and you can even build your own! The team will love all the attractions this amazing city has to offer. Here are some of the very best attractions and experiences!

Scenic Cruise

Lake Taupo is home to crystal clear and refreshing waters, and what better way to experience all the beauty it has to offer than on a scenic cruise. The glistening waters are swimmable all year round (even in winter if you’re brave) and on a sunny still day, will look just as blue as the sky above. If it is a little more overcast, the water can be covered in mist and will look dark green in colour.

Spa Park To Huka Falls Hike

Feel like you and the team need to walk off some of the extra kgs you’ve added by eating all the amazing food New Zealand has to offer? Well we have the trail for you! One of the most popular routes is the trek between Spa Park and Huka Falls. Walk along the Waikato River starting in Spa Park and finishing your journey at the mesmerising Huka Falls. The route is around 2 hours return, so you can come back and finish off the day with a cold beer. The team will love the sights!

Mine Bay Maori Rock Carvings

Towering 14 metres about the blue water of Lake Taupo, the Mine Bay Rock Carvings have become one of the North Island’s biggest tourist attractions. These carvings are best embraced on a kayaking tour so you and the team can get up close and personal to the artwork. It’s something that needs to be seen to be believed.

Jet Boating

If you’re more on the adventurous side get a true adrenaline rush on a jet boat ride. Zoom through the rapids on an ultimate thrill ride, gain air time and near misses as you fly across the Waikato River. This is not for the faint hearted.

Tongariro Alpine Crossing

Named as one of the best day walks in the world, the Tongariro Alpine crossing is 19.5km of pure beauty. The walking track takes between seven and nine hours, but the views are definitely worth the intense sweat you’ll inevitably work up. Volcanic craters, emerald lakes, moon-like craters, active volcanoes and barren canyons are just some of the spectacular sights you’ll see along the way. It will be a day to be remembered.

Craters of The Moon

If you’re after another out of this world experience, the Craters of The Moon will not disappoint. This 45 minute trail will begin at a visitor centre, and you will then be led through some of the most picturesque geothermal scenery. It is an easy walk for all fitness levels, and the views are absolutely breathtaking. Don’t forget your camera and get heaps of shots with the team!

Taupo DeBretts Hot Springs

Imagine submerging yourself into a hot natural mineral pool after a big day of exploring. And now stop imagining, because this is an activity the whole team can do in Taupo. This is the perfect activity to kick back, relax, and let your worries float away with the steam. It is the perfect TLC session after a busy day.
