end of season footy

The best part of making it through another season of footy is the end of season footy trip with the boys! After standing by your teammates through the heroic wins, the nail-biting finishes and the devastating losses, why not unwind and reward the playing group.

The boys are probably more like brothers than they are friends now. Team sports aren’t always about winning, it is a goal of the season yes but winning is built on mate ship and team efforts which make up the “1%ers”. A win or loss regardless of the outcome can a positive or negative depending on the closeness of the group and how the leaders of team deal with either outcome.

After a long hard season and all the boys leaving everything they have out on the field. The playing group should be rewarded for all their team effort and selfless contributions to the team throughout the season. While you could just round everyone up for a few cold beers at your local, we’ve got something else in mind – an epic end of season footy trip!  A group trip will give you the chance to kick back and relax with your teammates and the opportunity to get to know them more off the field. The cherry on top? The footy team bonds will have strengthen tremendously and the team will be better for it next year with a more close-nit playing group.

Team Trips is here to ensure your end of season getaway is one for the history books, and to get you started we’ve put together a sweet little guide that will help you get the ball rolling.

Set deadlines for the group

Your girlfriend is right. Guys are not the best when it comes to time management or organising in advance, so we recommend that your group start thinking of dates pretty early on in the planning process. It’s unlikely that you’re going to be able to settle on a time that suits every single person in the time, but with a little forward planning, you can find a date that works for the footy group.

Once you’ve got a rough idea of your timeline, it’s always good to set a hard deadline to collect deposits and start making bookings. The odds of having someone commit are much higher when they can see the closing date looming, and it’ll give you a pretty accurate idea of numbers. This will increase your chances of reserving the accommodation dates required for your group.

Establishing a headcount, collecting deposits and making bookings ahead of time will help ensure you make the most out of your time together. Accommodations, activity providers and major attractions can be much more flexible when they have notice of a large group coming. A group booking made ahead of time is also likely to attract some pretty sweet discounts (especially with Team Trips on your side), so you’ll have more money left over to play with.

Pick your location

Picking the ideal footy team trip location means finding something that ticks all the boxes, and that will depend on what you’re looking to get out of the trip. As well as how much your teammates are willing to spend, amount of days for the trip and travel requirements.

Are you wanting a more tropical sunny location in North Queensland for the group or something more back to nature away in the hinterlands or down South? If you want to get away from the world we can also organise more private locations. We have range of activities to bring groups toghether, you will find your heart pumping with some adrenaline-fuelled activities, and some more cruisy chilled activities to wind down the days. However, our new streamlined booking system allows for multiple ideas and voting on destinations and choice of activities.

Team Trips over the past 10 years has made a series of strong supplier partnerships all around Australia. So no matter your personality type or type of getaway we have something to suit just about  every type of person. The planning team have a number of packages for each location and alternative options for those who want something more specific. Contact our talented and experienced team to discuss your activity tastes, budget and party vibes, and we’ll give you plenty of ideas to throw around in your group chat.

Your reward for hard work and team efforts

The most important part of the season is rewarding the outstanding players who demonstrated team efforts consistently and worked tirelessly for the team. This is why we have the best and fairest award, or team player of year and other awards for top players. By rewarding your most influential leaders in the playing group, this will create stronger bonds, asspirations and result in all players doing more for other players. This will also develop more younger leaders in your footy team and develop better off field behavior. All of our group leaders or team leaders will get a discount when organising the footy team trips, this can be distributed throughout the team as an additional reward, or this can be used by the organiser as incentive for managing the booking process.

The final countdown

As your footy team trip dates gets closer and closer, you will recieve your itinery 2 weeks out, the excitement and energy will be building among your teammates. But it’s essential to do a few final checks before you leave to ensure you have the best possible time.

  • Remember to checkin for any flights…
  • Call your hotel to confirm checkin times and location if no transfers are organised…
  • Have you checked the weather of your destination and packed your bags accordingly?
  • Have you organised drinks and are you ready to kick back, let loose and have a good time?

If you answered yes to all of those questions, you are well and truly ready to go. If not, well, that’s what Team Trips is here for. Any last-minute troubles – just contact our team for assistance.
